Not so motivated today...........

I think that I have adult A.D.D., and I am eating stale candy left over from my children's Easter baskets.

We all have days like this right??

Thrifty Thursday

It's Thrifty Thursday at Bloggeritaville!!! What better "thrifty" can there be than free? When I was in Utah, I had the joy of shuffling through some of my mothers old collections and choosing some treasures to keep for myself. I have mentioned before that my mom is an avid collector. Well,...that doesn't even begin to describe the magnitude of her collections. Fortunately for myself and Wendy, our mom was in the mood to gift us with a few vintage remembrances from our trip.

The lovely cameos. I wish this picture was in better focus because they are all so unusual, and the photo does them no justice.

This ring is a locket. Do we see a pattern with me and ring/lockets developing here?

This old blue "Ball" mason jar that I stole right out of her breakfast nook is filled with vintage buttons from my moms unbelievable button collection.

Some of the buttons still set anchored to their original home on an old card stock. I just love it!!! And, one old spool of silk thread................. sigh...........................Thanks Mom!!!

Window Shopping..............

How did I not discover this wonderful little store before now??? How I ask? It is called Ruche, and I have been dream-shopping on the web today while my son is at his middle school orientation. (I can't seem to focus on anything productive as I send my baby into the sea of sharks that is middle school.) So I have been mind numbingly exploring the cyber world,...and voila...Ruche. What a fantastic store.....i may have to get my hands on this jacket/cardigan piece of fabulous-ness! ...........................
I adore this dress...
....and this hat...

really love this ring............it's a locket............sigh................

..........the ethereal shirt..................

and last but not least................ the preppy-bohemian/chic skirt.................i don't know, maybe the rest of you already know Ruche, but if you don't, go window shop!!
This really is a gem waiting to be discovered.

the Paisley Pomegranate

On one of our treasure hunting excursions in fabulous Salt Lake City, Wendy and I happened upon this fabulous little boutique in Sugarhouse. The Paisley Pomegranate. Of course the name alone was enough to entice us through its tantalizing doors,...but once we were inside. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh,...sigh!! It was an eye candy store. An ideas a-plenty store. We could have spent hours in there studying every wonderful little chotchkey, gizmo, and gadget. We had to control ourselves because it was out of what either of us would consider our price range. (Which isn't hard when you consider that we are both garage sale/ consignment store junkies.) :) None-the-less, it was probably one of my favorite afternoons of my entire trip wandering sensory overloaded with idea endorphins through wonderful little shops in Sugarhouse with my big sis.
I did splurge on this fabulous little pendant because it reminded me of my sisters and myself.

Can't ya just see the resemblance? :)

Sisters

If this trip had been for no other reason then to see my sister Wendy it still would have been the perfect trip. More than worth it. (I wish I could have gotten a better picture. She has all of the cute ones over at her place.) We have been two peas in a pod since...well...forever! She is my best friend. She has always put up with so much from me, such as singing and dancing in public, laughing at my own jokes, eating all of the cheese fries, hogging the Diet Coke, and...well...you get the picture. 3 years is far too long to go without seeing your best friend and most kindred spirit. The fact that we are sisters, I think, was really just a convenient coincidence. Wendy is inspiring, adorable, and magnetic, with an infectious laugh, and contagious creativity!! She makes everything around her become more alive and more beautiful. I love you big sis!!! It was wonderful to see you and I vow to never let 3 years pass again!!

ROAD TRIP!!!

Thrilled to be vacating the desert heat with my family (for just over 2 weeks......hazahhhhh!!) Get to see my big sis whom I shamefully admit that haven't seen for 3 years!! Get to meet my 2 year old nephew. Get to see my mommy, daddy, in laws, friends, and beloved family!! Get to eat at my favorite digs....Cafe Rio, Spaghetti Factory, Chick Fillet (I know,...really glamorous.) Get to actually shop at Down East Basic instead of just daydreaming on-line. Get to spend time with my peeps and husband with no "just -a-minutes" lurking over us. Some of my all time favorite thrift stores and consignments shops are in Salt Lake so maybe I will even find a gem or two to blog about. Just in case I don't... Happy Blogging in my absence and boy will I have some fun catch up reading to do when I return.

the Locket

This fabulous little locket was waiting for me at "Forever 21". It had this fuzzy picture of a tiny blue flower on the front of it. I didn't love the picture, but the locket was around $5.oo and was calling out to me. Just something about it. (You know that feeling?) I got it home and still wasn't wearing it because of that blue flower. So, I printed out a thumbnail of a picture of my sister, my daddy, and me, and trimmed it to fit. I coated a layer of diamond glass over the flower image, placed the new image on top, and coated another layer of diamond glass to seal the picture. I was pleased to see that it didn't damage the photo at all. After it had dried for a few hours I handled and studied it. It was clear, thick, glossy, and I really liked the results. For jewelry I would say that it worked out much better than Modge Podge. It makes me smile that my cheep shopping mall junk jewelry find now looks like a vintage heirloom. :):)
