Shadowbox Art

I am having a love affair with shadow box frames. I really enjoy images and little baubles and tidbits of whatever-ness. If it strikes my fancy I hoard it and save it for 'who knows what'. Every once in awhile I get enough items of a similar theme to make a piece of art out of. The texture and dimension of this art is too fat/thick/goobery...for a regular frame, but that is exactly what makes it appeal so to my senses. Thus,...the love affair. Shadow box frames have got to be one of the best inventions since those gadgets that cut and core your apple at the same time. (Disclaimer, these photos are blurry and leave much to be desired. But you get the idea. I still claim to be one of the worlds worst photographers.)
This piece is made of a bunch of 'romantic' little something-or-others that I saved up.

This one is sentimental because some of these skeleton keys were found in the apartment building that my grandparents had owned. When they passed, the building was cleaned up for sale and my mom brought many keys home. She shared these ones with me.

These both hang in my very red powder room and make me smile when I see them.

I am running out of adjectives to use for how talented you are. What do you say when words are not enough? I would totally want something like that in my romantic and sentimental home; I am sure you could make some lovely ones for my bedroom, that is all in blue...
I would hire you in no time.
This is really lovely Holly, you hold my constant admiration.;)

Okay...so I love the adjective "gooberiness" it's very Duncan-esque. You have such a way with words. ;-) I also love the little button heart in the corner of your "romantic" collage.

But, how come you are the one to score the skeleton keys from Grandma and Grandpa's house? Hello?!? OLDER sister here...don't I come first? Ha ha!!

Hi there,
Thank you so much for coming over last week and leaving your sweet comment that brightened my day.
This collage you've made is breathtaking. We are certainly kindred spirits in the "save and hoard every bauble and tidbit" department. But it SO paid off in this beautiful work of art. : )

Hi Holly, I can't believe how much a project I posted yesterday has in common with your key project here. Take a look: marshasmpressions.blogspot.com

BTW, I love your blog!
