Place Mats to Pillows

For those of you who have already seen this post,...I just added it to Thrifty Thursday at Bloggeritaville. Go check it out...lots of fun finds!! (Who doesn't love a bargain???)

I have been searching high and low for quite some time now for the perfect accent pillows for my half pints bed. She already had a beautiful comforter and one decorative pillow, but I could never find the finishing touches. They were either too big, too small, too expensive, too frilly, or just too......................!!!! When I finally found them they were place mats. (miner set back) They were perfect! A set of 4 for $10.-!! After buying some inexpensive batting the whole project cost me approx $12.50, which is not bad for 2 pillows.

Even more fun, they were reversible with two complimentary patterns. I decided to keep them that way so that if we ventured into that 'oh-so-pepto-bismal-tooo-pink-it's-a-girl-thing' stage,...we would already have the perfect pillows! :)

I sewed them, stuffed them, and finished off the seams.

I love them! I would never trade my boys for ANYTHING, but sometimes having little girls is like actually living in the fairy tale. Bliss!!

I am also so excited to add that this post was featured on One Pretty Thing! THANK YOU for the honor!!!

Holly these really turned out so cute. I would never have thought of making pillows out of placemats. Well, I don't even sew, so of course I wouldn't. So cute, I love them.

This is so gorgeous, I can not believe that you made pillow cases out of place mats; what a brilliant idea.;)
As I said many times before; you should have a store and sell all your crafts; you are so talented.;))

I've done this craft and love it. I got the idea a while back from Amber at Making a Home http://makingahome-pa.blogspot.com/2008/10/its-sew-easy.html
and it's such a great way to do adorable pillows!

What a fun project and sew easy! Thanks for mentioning it, I'll never look at placemats the same way. You'd never find one cute pillow for that price, but to get two!!!

I came over from Leigh's "party."

Those are some gorgeous quilts and quilted items!!!!

A couple of my tea sets would look GREAT on a tray at the foot of that bed. We could make a magazine layout!! (Hehehehehehehehe)

Incredible!!! I'm ashamed to admit what I paid for two Rachel Ashwell (of Shabby Chic) pillow shams a few years back. Yours are every bit as lovely. Thanks for sharing this idea.
