May I take a moment to VENT..........

For the last several months I have been sewing with a broken presser foot on my machine. I have gone to some ridiculous lengths such as slipping paper underneath the side of the presser foot and hoping it will slide along the fabric to taping it up to try to keep it from catching on the fabric. So, try to laugh off my ignorance and tell me, can one replace just the presser foot on their sewing machine? And, if one can replace just the presser foot, can any one tell me where one could find said presser foot? Thank you soo much bloggy friends!! I love having such a fabulous resource.

Aw, I wish I could help you, but I do not own a sewing machine and have therefore no idea.
Good luck though finding out.;))

Typically, yes. Most machines have presser feet that can be removed and even changed with other types of feet for various types of sewing. I have several feet for my machine. I have no idea what most of them are for though! :) I'd go to a sewing store. Try for an independent or one with a repairperson, they are likely to know more about different machines.
P.S. Love your blog. I've never commented, but I follow it in reader.

yes you can change your presser foot, i can see the knob that is attaching it in your photo. Do you know what model you have?

Yep, you can definitely change it...you can generally buy different feet at Joann's (or another sewing/fabric store) for under $15. Just make sure you know what brand/model of machine you have before you go buy one! To change it, you'll look for the metal screwdriver that came with your machine(mine is really just a flat piece of metal with an indent on one side) and use it to loosen the screw holding the foot on. Hope that helps!

I've changed mine before, it's a snap. Sounds like you're on the right track. My question is... How on earth did you break your presser foot that way???? Once, my machine went wonky and only sewed backwards. My husband told me to sit on the other side!
